St. Augustine grass is a dark green grass with broad, flat blades that has a low to medium height growth pattern. St. Augustine is primarily found in tropical and subtropical places throughout the United States’ Gulf Coast, the Caribbean, and the Mediterranean.
It spreads by stolons and develops a dense layer that chokes out the majority of weeds in the grass and turf. St. Augustine is a low-maintenance grass that requires just moderate amounts of water and fertilizer. It’s also one of the most shade-tolerant grasses we have in our area.
St. Augustine grass creates a rich green lawn from spring through frost and is recommended for USDA plant hardiness zones 8 through 10.
Palmetto St. Augustine and Classic St. Augustine Sod are available.
