St. Augustine, Zoysia, Bermuda, and Centipede grass sod for sale and delivery across Chalmette in St. Bernard Parish.
Chalmette is a regular delivery route for our crew. From our yard in Lakeview, a pallet reaches Chalmette in 25 to 35 minutes via I-510 and Paris Road. Next-day delivery is on the table when we have cut stock ready.
Chalmette sits along the Mississippi River about six miles east of New Orleans in St. Bernard Parish. The Chalmette Battlefield, where Andrew Jackson's forces won the Battle of New Orleans in January 1815, is now a national park and the parish's signature landmark. The community runs from Arabi at the parish line out through Meraux and Violet toward the Lake Borgne marshes.
Hurricane Katrina's 25-foot storm surge flooded the bulk of Chalmette in 2005, and the rebuild reset much of the tree canopy. A lot of the lots that once had heavy oak shade now get more sun because the mature trees were lost. Newer rebuilt homes sit on raised foundations with wider open lawns. Older blocks closer to St. Bernard Highway still have established shade trees. Soil is heavy clay alluvium with high organic matter, and drainage matters everywhere here.
Pricing runs by the pallet. Each pallet covers 450 sq ft and the rate shifts with grass type and order size.

Older Arabi blocks with kept-up oaks call for Palmetto St. Augustine. Rebuilt Chalmette lots with young trees and open sun work better with Bermuda or Zoysia. We pick the grass for your lot, not the other way around.

Chalmette soil is heavy clay alluvium with organic matter, the same Mississippi River floodplain profile that runs across St. Bernard Parish. That holds water longer than sand, so cut back watering frequency once the lawn establishes. Post-Katrina rebuilt lots typically sit on raised foundations with regraded yards, which improved surface drainage on those properties. Shaded yards need less water and a raised mowing height. Watch for chinch bugs and brown patch in the humid summer months. After a hard freeze (rare but real), give the grass time before deciding it is dead. Warm-season grasses usually come back in April.

Bermuda or Zoysia. A lot of Chalmette lots were cleared after Katrina and replanted with smaller trees, so the typical rebuilt yard now gets more sun than before. Bermuda and Zoysia handle that profile well.
