Care Basics
Drainage, Shade, Heat
LaPlace soil is heavy clay alluvium, the same Mississippi River floodplain profile that runs through the River Parishes. Lots sit at or near sea level, so drainage matters. Heavy clay holds water longer than sand, so cut back watering frequency once the lawn establishes. Shaded yards need less water and a raised mowing height. Watch for chinch bugs and brown patch in the humid summer months. After a hard freeze (rare but real), give the grass time before deciding it is dead. Warm-season grasses usually come back in April. If you would rather have our crew handle prep, grading, and laying for you, we offer turn-key sod installation across LaPlace and the surrounding parish.
